Our Goal
Choosing sun-grown cannabis is not just about the plant — it’s about caring for the planet, the people, and the process.
Our Goals
The goal of the Sun-Grown Cannabis Alliance (SGCA) is to create a fair and sustainable future for outdoor cannabis cultivation in Massachusetts. We believe that cannabis grown under natural sunlight, in living soil, and with minimal environmental impact is not only better for the planet — it’s better for the people who use it. Yet, despite its benefits, sun-grown cannabis faces outdated regulations and market barriers that disproportionately affect small farmers.
Our mission is to level the playing field by advocating for science-based policy changes that reflect the realities of outdoor growing. Current microbial testing standards, soil and water testing mandates, and excessive fines create unnecessary burdens that put honest farmers at risk. SGCA fights for smarter regulations that recognize the difference between indoor and outdoor cultivation — and that support the long-term viability of small-scale, sustainable growers.
What We’re Working Toward
We believe that cannabis grown outdoors in living soil under natural sunlight is not only more sustainable, but also higher in quality and lower in environmental impact. Unfortunately, many of the current regulations make it harder — not easier — for outdoor cultivators to succeed.
